£5 could pay for us to support one person out of food and fuel poverty

With the cost of food and energy bills rising it is more important than ever for isolated adults to access support available to them. A £5 donation could pay for one of our phone line staff to chat with a struggling resident and refer them directly to one or more relevant partner organisations such as South London Healthy Homes and Lewisham Foodbank. Through this they would gain access to free support including food parcels, energy saving devices and professional advice around benefits and debt.

£15 could pay for one of our team to spend a full hour on the phone supporting an isolated resident

Many of our service users have a wide range of support needs and therefore need a more in-depth chat. This longer conversation will give them the time to understand the person’s unique circumstances, what changes they’d like to make and any barriers they face. They can then help them find the right services for them, whether this be a local social group or the specialist support of one of our partner organisations.

£25 could pay for one of our team to accompany an isolated person to a new social group

Many isolated adults we support put off trying new social activities due to a range of emotional and practical barriers. For example, feeling anxious about meeting new people, or struggling with planning their journey to an unfamiliar location. As part of our service one of our staff can accompany them from their home to a new group, helping them to settle in and gain the confidence to return by themselves.

Call to Action

Help us raise £160 to fund one of our weekly drop-in sessions

Our new drop-in will provide a regular time and place for any Lewisham residents to meet face to face with our team and get advice about their health and wellbeing. This is particularly beneficial to those who find it difficult to communicate over the phone for reasons such as hearing and speech difficulties. Others may just like to get out of the house, meet someone face to face, and benefit from the social activities we refer them to, such as gardening, cooking and much more!
